Koda and Yogi are beagle brothers that live with their mom Cecelie in Utica, New York. They are best friends and are never seen without the other. Together, they have the best life.
But while it seems adorable to see dogs that are incredibly bonded, Koda and Yogi used to be rivals at first. Koda, being the only alpha make in the past, didn’t like the idea of her mom getting a new dog. So when Yogi came, they were forced to share everything.
Cecelie knew she was ready for a second dog. Besides, she felt like Koda needed a sibling to grow up with, so she found Yogi. But while they’re from the same breed, there wasn’t really a solid bond that formed.
Yogi wanted to snuggle up to Koda most of the time. But the older beagle wanted to do nothing with his sibling. He hid and nosed him off a little bit.
The sibling rivalry continued for months until one night, Cecilie woke up to a screaming noise. She knew one of the dogs was hurt. So she rushed and saw Koda needed help.
Koda lost the use of his hind legs, and the neurosurgeon said he’d be paralyzed for the rest of his life. His mom got him his own wheels but he wasn’t really taking it very well at first. Fortunately, Yogi was there to help.
When Yogi realized his brother struggled with the wheelchair, he started tugging him. His gesture encouraged his brother, and pretty quickly, Koda started to move. And at one certain point, they were almost running together.
It almost would have not happened in the past, Cecelie said. But today, Koda and Yogi love each other and they share an unbreakable bond. Yogi is now a protective brother and Koda is more than happy to have his BFFs around all the time.
