People always do a double-take whenever they look at Bertram. The reason behind this being, he looks more like a bear cub than a dog. The Pomeranian has way too much fluff on his body that people always stare at him in disbelief whenever they’re told that he’s not a cub.
He’s also bigger than the average Pomeranian, which is why his breeders abandoned him. They agreed that there was no way they could sell him, so they decided to let him go. Being the heartless creatures that they are, they left Bertram on the streets to fend for himself.
A second shot at life
A rescue group eventually caught wind of the Pomeranian’s story and decided to save him. They tracked him down and brought him to an animal shelter in Oklahoma. They then ran some quick tests to make sure he wasn’t suffering from any serious medical condition. After receiving confirmation that the pup was indeed in good health, they put him up for adoption.
The volunteers took photos of Bertram and uploaded them on PetFinder.com. Coincidentally, Kathy Grayson was looking for a dog to adpot that time. When she saw the pooch’s picture, she was dead set on bringing him home with her. She rushed to the shelter and processed Bertram’s adoption papers.
It was so fast, but something in Grayson told her that the dog was meant to be with her. She got the affirmation she needed when she and Bertram finally came face to face. The dog kept hugging her and giving her wet kisses. It seemed like he knew that they were destined to be together.

As of writing, Grayson and Bertram are living in New York City. The fur mom chronicles the pup’s daily adventures and uploads them on Instagram. He’s considered as one of the pet-fluencers on the platform since he has over 437,000 followers.
