Passengers walking in the Ayr Station in Scotland were confused when they saw a dog tied alone and a suitcase beside him. When a staff of the station investigated, a woman said that the owner of the dog had already left.
The woman was there to buy the dog supposedly, but when she saw that the dog was not the same one advertised, she had some reluctance. She said that they met up at the station after they agreed online that the dog would be sold for 4000 pounds. But when she saw that the dog had medical issues, she first asked to take it for a short walk.
The seller agreed, but only if she left 150 pounds as security. When she handed over the money, the seller walked away. The last she saw of the guy was him getting in his car and driving off. She called the seller on his phone for him to return, but he never came back.
The woman didn’t know what to do. She had to leave soon because her daughter was at home and was suffering from asthma. Plus, the last train bound for her house was leaving. So She just tied the dog up and left.
Staff members from the Scottish SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) picked up the dog and put him under their care. When they opened up the suitcase, they found a dog bowl, some food, a pillow, and a couple of toys. They then scanned him for a microchip.
They discovered that the dog’s name was Kai and also the name of his last known owner. When they got in touch with him, he said that he sold the dog a few years back.
Surgery and a new home
Aside from some signs of neglect, the dog had a medical condition; his eyelids were curling upwards. The dog needed surgery, and it cost thousands of dollars. Thankfully, supporters of the SPCA chipped in, and within 24 hours, they had enough to cover the cost of the operation.
The surgery went well, and Kai was on his way to becoming healthy and strong. His popularity was also growing as more people learned about this dog left in the train station. Applications for his adoption started pouring in. And after a lengthy deliberation, they soon found a new home for Kai.
