When a culture’s unethical practice is costing the lives of millions of dogs, it is when everyone needs to come together and help out these dogs. The dogs in the video never had a bed or a friendly touch until they were rescued.
These dogs are finally given the right treatment and given a chance to have a family and a home. These dogs are victims of a cruel meat trade in South Korea. Every year, there are about two million dogs who are killed, so they can be someone’s meal.
There are not a lot of people who eat dog meat in South Korea, yet it remains to be a two hundred thousand dollar- industry. And over twenty-thousand restaurants are serving dog meat stew. This is also practiced in different parts of Asia.
In China alone, there are over ten million dogs that die every year because of this trade. These dogs are only a few of those who were saved. The dogs in these trades are bred, taken from the streets, and some are even pets.
These dogs could have a happy family and home if they are saved on time. These dog’s lives are too precious to satisfy one’s food cravings. They were not created for that.
There are still a lot more that people can do. Saving some may not mean saving all, but every dog that is rescued is a family that can be completed by the dog’s presence. People are starting to spread awareness.
Taiwan is the first country in Asia to ban the use of dog meat. This is only the first step, and with Taiwan’s example, all one can hope is for China and other countries to follow suit. Everyone should contribute even in little ways like spreading the word.
