Experts are still finding out if dog siblings can remember each other.
While we know that dogs have a good sense of smell, animal experts are trying to find out if it is also applicable among siblings born from the same litter.
Monty and Rosie are cockapoos born on the same litter. Monty and Rosie have four more siblings. When they were still puppies, Monty and Rosie can always be seen playing together. They were able to form a close bond before they get adopted.
Susan Killip adopted Rosie, and her friend, who lives in a nearby village, took Monty. Rosie and Monty were able to see each other one week after they have been adopted, and after that, they have lost touch.
Ten months after they have seen each other, their owners got surprised that the two pups hugged and jumped for joy when they met at the park.
Libby Pincher told the story of Monty and Rosie’s reunion on Twitter. The post became viral and was retweeted for more than 196,000 times.
Libby’s dad didn’t expect that the two dogs would hug after they saw each other. Most dogs would play with each other when they meet new dogs, but embracing each other is something new for him.
Susan cannot even believe that Rosie “remembered” her brother.
People who saw the viral photo on Twitter were convinced that Monty and Rosie know each other. It is also possible that when dog siblings form a strong bond with each other, they would be able to recognize and remember each other even if they were adopted separately. Experts say that their scents may be the reason why they remembered each other.
Susan said that they have planned for future play dates for Rosie and Monty.
We can’t wait to hear more of their future play dates!
