We all have a dream job. For some, it’s a bestselling author of a book series. For others, it’s acting, singing, being a musician, a renowned athlete, or a prima ballerina.
But for various reasons, we usually end up taking a different career path. While the sky is the limit for dreaming, we also have to consider practicality and feasibility when choosing a career. Oftentimes, we choose to compromise and pick a job that brings food to the table and pays the bills.
But there are a few people who are lucky enough to live their dream jobs. Niki Sohrabkani, a 54-year-old woman from London, works as a full-time party planner for dogs. And yes, she gets paid for it!
In the past, Niki worked as an international events organizer, a job that is not far from what she’s doing now. The only difference was the type of clients she has – people, of course! But an opportunity arrived that paved the way to change her career and quit her job.
One time, she had to organize a celebration for 20 dogs, and it became a huge hit. The successful event inspired her to leave her post and start her own company that focuses on organizing events – but for dogs!
With that, the London Dog Party Company was born. Niki’s business focuses on planning glamorous events for dogs, from birthdays to parties of all sorts. It seems that Niki’s idea was timely, especially during the age of social media. Dog owners who like to flaunt their pets would want Instagram photos worthy of praise, and having these unique parties would rake lots of likes and comments!
Packages start at £500 for a two-hour celebration. So far, Niki and her team of five hosted at least 30 parties of varying themes, being Harry Potter and the Great Gatsby as the most requested ones. The party wouldn’t be complete without dog-friendly food and refreshments, party games, doggie outfits, and various games catered for dogs.
Niki, who has spent 33 years doing the same job, was fortunate to merge her expertise and passion for her craft and love for dogs. She was also lucky to live in a country of dog lovers willing to throw unique parties. Now, they also serve clients outside of London, such as in New York and Los Angeles, making her unique job, a success!
While others may call her lucky, living your dream job is possible. All it takes is passion, dedication, creativity, and drive.
