Jane Whitton, the person behind the IG handle ‘daisy_beagle_family,’ brought home two newborn kittens, a ginger cat named Dexter and a black one named Fletcher, after her friend’s cat gave birth to an unwanted kitty litter. Jane introduced the kitties to her pet Beagle, Daisy, and the dog quickly fell in love with them.
Daisy immediately took the role of becoming Dexter and Fletcher’s mama and began following them wherever they went. She constantly looked after them from the moment they arrived and wanted nothing but to be involved with whatever the cats were doing.
Jane thought nothing about how affectionate Daisy had become and even believed that she was cuddling with Dexter and Fletcher most of the time. However, it turns out that Daisy’s body started producing breastmilk from out of nowhere and began nursing the kittens after a few days.
Jane shared how bizarre it was to see her dog producing breastmilk for the newborn animals that were not even hers, but it was heartwarming to see such sight because she was treating them like her own babies. She has always read about animals spontaneously developing milk if they feel an animal needs it, but it was quite surprising to see it happen in front of her eyes.
Fletcher and Dexter eventually grew into full-blown adults, but they still see Daisy as their family. After a few years, Daisy gave birth to her puppies, and the two cats became the pups’ babysitters.
Dexter camped himself out on a chair right next to the whelping box to watch Daisy all the time and even started sleeping with them as they grew bigger. Jane recalled that Dexter became close to one of the puppies, Lily, while Fletcher showed how affectionate he is towards everybody.
Jane shared how amazing animals are because of how accepting and loving they are. She believes that people could learn a lot from animals because they teach valuable life lessons.
