I Stand With My Pack animal rescue facility contacted one of their regular foster parents, Courtney Davis, to ask if she could foster a mangey little puppy. The shelter admitted to Courtney that they did not know the dog’s history, but fortunately, that did not stop her from fostering the poor pup.
The shelter employees immediately handed Courtney a puppy wrapped up in a blanket as soon as she arrived. Courtney recalled that the dog constantly shivered in her arms, which ultimately broke her heart because no dog deserved to be in such pitiful condition.
Courtney admitted that she had never seen anything like the pup’s condition and promised that she would do her best to help her get better. She recalled that getting the puppy to eat and drink was a bit of a struggle because the poor dog did not seem to know what those were.
Courtney shared that she bathed her foster dog the following day and realized it was probably the first time the poor pup had any human contact. She fed the puppy some fresh chicken as a treat and was surprised to see the pooch happily eating for the first time.
Courtney felt that Chicken would be the perfect name for the pup because it was the first time she saw the puppy happy, so she named her Chicken. Chicken’s health eventually improved after a couple of months of being showered with love, food, and attention.
Courtney said it was a miracle to see Chicken get better because she was not expecting that to happen because of how weak she was at first. Chicken began walking after two months, her fur started growing back in the fourth month, and Courtney credited her other dog, Shakes, for helping Chicken come out of her shell.
