Concerned individuals had heard a dog barking in an abandoned house for weeks. It sounded like a dog was in distress. This was why they started to check the house. They had found the owner of the house, who permitted them to check the basement only if they fed the dog trapped inside.
They saw the two-year-old dog crouching on the floor. The voice of the bulldog named Gracie was hoarse, and there were feces on her feet. Upon seeing the rescuer, Gracie immediately ran to them and gave them kisses.
It seemed that the dog was desperate not only for food but also for attention — the good Samaritans posted on Facebook about the condition of the dog. The Queen City Bulldog Rescue had read the post and immediately went to the abandoned house to rescue the poor dog.
They found out that the bulldog had been used as a breeder. But since the dog was old and no longer profitable, the owner let her go. In spite of everything that she went through, Gracie remained loving to anyone she met, particularly her rescuers.
According to the founder of the animal shelter, the bulldog craved for human touch. That’s why when the rescuers saved her, Gracie felt that she was safe. When she was rescued from the basement of the abandoned house, the dog loved to play and rolled over in the grass.
The skin infections of Gracie have been treated, and she is scheduled for the spay surgery. She’s finally mending after years of neglect. The animal shelter has found a foster family that would not only give Gracie a forever home but also forever love.
With his new foster family, the sweet bulldog has now a comfortable life. She’s free playing with kiddos, walking in the sunshine, and lying on cozy blankets.
