Malls have evolved from being a mere collection of retail shops to places where people can spend quality time with the people they value. Aside from increasing spaces that encourage human interaction, they’ve also made adjustments to make their establishment pet-friendly. It’s an excellent business move, especially since most people want to have their fur babies by their side at all times.
Such is the case of a mall located in Taguig City, Philippines. It was launched in 2018 as a pet-friendly mall, and people have been taking their fur babies there ever since. They recently made headlines for showing kindness to a stray dog who entered the building to cool off.
Hot dog
Seeing fur parents with their pups in tow is a common sight in pet-friendly malls. Dogs roaming around without a leash and owner in sight, however, can be alarming. This is why Jan Mart Alimpong immediately called the security guard’s attention when he saw the stray lounging about by himself.
Apparently, the dog no longer wanted to deal with the heat outside so decided to go inside the mall to cool off. After some minutes of walking, he found himself a cozy spot near the escalator. He didn’t get to stay that long, though, because the guards woke him up and escorted him outside the building.
Hired at last
The mall’s administrator, John Rowin Luna, revealed that the pup (whom they fondly call Dogdog) had been frequenting the mall for half a decade now. Instead of driving him away, Luna decided to hire the pup and welcome him as a member of the mall’s security group.
Dogdog isn’t the first stray dog to land a job at that mall. As it turns out, other strays have been hired as security dogs as well. Hit the 49:14 mark to know more about Dogdog:
