The dog in our story today used to be a street dog. He was living in Singapore without a home. He was hit by a truck which caused his pelvis to be crushed. That made him paralyzed from his waist down.
A person saw the poor dog resting on the side of the road and took pity at his condition. That same person called animal rescue to help the dog.
The volunteers of the animal rescue came to help the dog, which they later named Barry. When he was secured, they took him to a vet. The vet did a checkup on the dog and he said that Barry would not be able to recover from his injuries. But Barry had other plans – he was about to prove them wrong.
Barry had to stay at the vet’s so that he could get the medical help that he needs. In just a few days of staying there and getting medical attention, Barry started to move, which he didn’t do before. The dog started to wag his tail and that was the first movement that he did.
The vets were surprised at this but they were happy that the dog had a strong fighting spirit and an even stronger will to live. Soon enough, they noticed that Barry already was standing on his own two feet. It didn’t take long for Barry to start walking again.
Barry was able to walk but it wasn’t like how a normal dog would, given his injuries. But he was deemed to be strong enough to home to a foster family.
For Barry, living in a foster home was something that he hadn’t experienced before. He didn’t have a home before. He didn’t even have a family who took care of him. Now, he was able to experience that and that made him happy.
