Following an injury last June, Russell Jones resorted to walking with crutches to heal his broken ankle. Since then, loved ones readily expressed their sympathies to the Brit, yet their words could not hold a candle to his dog’s sweet reaction.
Billy, his 8-year-old lurcher (a British term for a crossbred dog), allocates the majority of his free time for play and darting across their backyard. Shortly after the accident, however, Russell’s spouse, Michelle, observed their pet limping whenever he accompanied his dad. Billy’s behavior began to trouble her.
To avoid Billy’s hobble from worsening, the couple immediately consulted a vet- costing them over $400 for X-ray scans and further check-up fees. After an in-depth examination, the vet returned with a shocking diagnosis – Billy was in perfect shape!
The Jones were in disbelief after the visit, for in plain sight, it looked as if Billy acquired a leg injury too.
Their family grew even more skeptical of Billy whenever they spotted him carrying out his usual rounds in normal condition as soon as his dad was nowhere to be found.
Suddenly, the idea struck them.
Billy feigned the limp to copy his dad’s own – presumably out of empathy. Such the con artist he is, he successfully convinced the entire family that he had actually hurt his leg.
Laughing out of their newfound realization, Russell uploaded a clip of Billy limping to a Facebook group for lurcher owners, commenting, “Nothing wrong, just sympathy. Love him.”
Billy’s Hollywood-deserving performance went off to garner thousands of shares on Facebook and earn his parents an exclusive interview on television.
With Russell now fully recovered, Billy dropped his limping act altogether and continues to cherish his daily strolls with his best friend.
