India has always had a massive problem with stray animals. Their streets are littered with millions of homeless dogs. Nonprofit rescue organizations, like Animal Aid Unlimited India, work hard every day to help these poor canines, especially those that have special needs.
Having no owners make life difficult for these dogs, especially when they encounter health problems. Injured and sick pups live in constant pain because no one gives them medical treatments. So when Animal Aid Unlimited India received a call about a stray dog with a severely swollen head, they immediately sent some rescuers.
Pig-headed
The rescuers were shocked to see the severity of the dog’s condition. His face was so enlarged that the stray resembled a pig. They quickly tried to gain his trust so he would go with them and they could get the poor pooch immediate medical attention.
The homeless pup was friendly, but he was cautious about the strange people around him. He would eat the food that was offered, but he wouldn’t allow his rescuers to touch his body. Afraid that the dog would run away, the rescuers decided to use a net to prevent his escape.
While one man distracted the dog with food, another guy crept behind the dog’s back and threw a net over his body. The startled pooch tried to get himself free, but he got tangled in the net even more.
Abscess
Back in their facility, a vet treated the sick pooch right away. A medical team immediately drained the huge abscess on the mutt’s head. They inserted a drainage tube and stitched his wound up when the operation was done.
With regular care and attention, the rescue dog fully recovered after two weeks. He is now free from pain and happily plays with his rescuers and the other shelter dogs. He is now ready to be a part of a family and the rescue group is looking for his forever home.
